X-ray of Paranasal Sinuses (4 projections)
Sinus x-rays, also known as sinus x-rays, are medical images used to evaluate the sinuses, which are air-filled cavities in the skull found around the nose and eyes. These x-rays are used in medicine for several reasons:
Diagnosis of sinus infections: Sinus x-rays can help doctors identify the presence of sinus infections, such as sinusitis. This is done by watching for swelling or fluid buildup in these areas.
Evaluation of obstructions or blockages: If a patient experiences symptoms such as persistent nasal congestion or pain in the sinus area, x-rays may reveal blockages, polyps, or other abnormalities that could be causing the problems.
Nasal or sinus surgery planning: Before performing surgical procedures on the sinuses, such as a deviated septal surgery or sinus surgery, sinus x-rays are used to provide visual guidance to surgeons, allowing them to plan and carry out the intervention more precise.
Monitoring of chronic diseases: In patients with chronic sinus diseases, such as chronic rhinosinusitis, sinus radiographs may be useful to evaluate the progression of the disease and the effectiveness of treatment over time.
In summary, sinus x-rays are a valuable tool in medicine for evaluating the health and function of these cavities of the skull, which can aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions related to the sinuses and nose.
