Shoulder MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) 1.5 Tesla Aera Siemens on the Shoulder
1. What is a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)? TheMagnetic resonanceIt is a diagnostic imaging technique that uses a magnetic field and radio waves to generate detailed images of the inside of the body, without resorting to ionizing radiation as in X-rays.
2. What does 1.5 Teslas mean? 1.5 Teslas refers to the intensity of the magnetic field used in the equipment. A Tesla is a unit that measures the strength of the magnetic field. MRI machines in hospitals and clinics commonly range from 1.5 to 3 Tesla. A magnetic field of 1.5 Tesla provides high definition images.
3. Siemens Aera Siemens is a renowned company in the field of medical technology. Its "Aera" model is one of the most outstanding 1.5 Tesla MRIs, appreciated for its efficiency, design aimed at patient comfort and the superior quality of the images it generates.
4. Shoulder Use The shoulder is a complex joint made up of several bones, ligaments, tendons and muscles. MRI is especially valuable for visualizing these structures:
Rotator Cuff Injuries: The MRI can identify tears or inflammation in the tendons of the rotator cuff, a group of tendons and muscles that stabilize the shoulder.
Osteoarthritis: MRI can detect degenerative changes in the shoulder joint, identifying cartilage wear and other signs of osteoarthritis.
Labral Injuries: The labrum is a ring of cartilage that surrounds the glenoid cavity of the shoulder. MRI can detect tears or injuries to this structure.
Bursitis: This condition refers to inflammation of the bursa, a small fluid-filled sac that acts as a cushion between bone and soft tissues. MRI can identify signs of inflammation.
The Siemens Aera model, with its 1.5 Tesla capacity, is ideal for obtaining detailed and clear images of the shoulder, facilitating an accurate diagnosis.
5. Advantages for the patient The Aera's open design is especially beneficial to patients, providing a more comfortable experience during the exam, which is essential if the patient has shoulder pain or limitation. The equipment's advanced technology also reduces noise, making the process more bearable.
